Nice to get that win in extra innings to take the series against the Brewers and get back to .500 baseball on Willie Mays' birthday! It was a fairly typical Matt Cain game, 10 strikeouts and only 2 earned runs and yet he doesn't get a win. Ol' Giant Travis Ishikawa ensured that with a clutch double in the top of the 9th that tied the game.
In the bottom of the 11th, it was quite an interesting situation with the bases loaded and the Brewers playing a 5-man infield. Hector Sanchez got the walkoff single. Man, nice to have one catcher in the .330s and another at .271 compared to last year.
And now on to L.A. Wear your helmets and Kevlar, Giants fans. LA isn't quite as scorching hot as they were, but are still 18-10 after losing to Cubs on Sunday. Hint: roll the ball four times to Matt Kemp, I'm afraid he's hot enough to hit an intentional walk homer with his extendo-bat. Hope Giants can get a game or two down there, but the pitching matchups are rough; Dodgers miss both MadBum and Cain.
Next game: San Francisco at Los Angeles, 7 p.m. Monday, May 7 at Gangland Acres. Zito (1-0, 1.72) vs. Lilly (3-0, 1.38) TV: CSN-BA.
