WP Madison Bumgarner (5-1) , 7ip, 6h, 1r, 1er, 1bb, 5k, 2.31era LP Randy Wolf (2-3), 6ip, 9h, 4r, 4er, 0bb, 3k, 6.68era SV - Santiago Casilla (5)
Another rough start for Giants offense, couldn't get anything out of the infield for a while, but then took advantage of Wolf as he began to tire. Snotrocket Bumgarner was his usual self except a bit of command trouble with his fastball early on. After Giants finally took the lead after 42 innings without one (back to Padres on April 29), the bullpen was mostly nails (Mota, Lopez, Casilla).
Early offense was MadBum just getting tired of all this and mashing in Hector Sanchez with a scorched double down the 3B line in the fifth, and then in the sixth, an offensive 3-run explosion (by this team's standards). A nice Cinco de Mayo victory.
By the way, MadBum is to Zito and Timmy what the Wankel is to those impossibly complex machines on "How It's Made." Timmy's delivery has 1,000 moving parts, Zito's has 10,000 and Snotrocket just Okie-blows his nose on the ground, looks in for the sign, rocks and deals a strike almost every time. Three moving parts and one of those is mucous.
Next game: Sunday, May 6, Brewers at Giants. Marcum (1-1, 3.19) vs. Cain (1-2, 2.35) TV: CSN-BA
I'm so glad you're back!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you........now make the Giants start winning.
