The View From Down Here vs. From The Porch

The Cubs begin a 4 game set with the Giants at San Francisco tonight.  Historically, the Cubs are pretty piss poor on their West Coast swings.  I expect this season to be no different.

Game 1: Friday June 1st - 10:15 PM EST WGN

Paul Maholm --------Madison Bumgarner

(4-3, 4.62 ERA)VS (5-4, 3.14 ERA)
Quote:
Maholm - I've done the math. I've watched to two games in which Mr. Maholm has pitched, both have been brutal losses. I spent roughly $280 between my tickets, the $8 beers and the $5 hot dogs. I want my ****ing money back.
Quote:
Bumgarner - This lanky lefty garners a lot of bums.

Game 2: Saturday June 2nd - 7:15 PM EST FOX

Matt Garza --------Matt Cain

(2-3, 4.22 ERA) VS(5-2, 2.79 ERA)

Quote:
Garza - After getting off to a hot start, Garza has now gone five innings or fewer in three of his past four starts, ballooning his ERA from 2.67 to 4.22 in the process. He'll bring a 1.16 WHIP and 49/19 K/BB ratio into his Saturday start against the Giants in San Francisco.
Quote:
Cain - He's making a lot of money. Good for him.
Game 3: Sunday June 3rd - 4:05 PM EST WGN

Travis Wood --------Barry Zito

(0-1, 5.94 ERA)VS (4-2, 3.41 ERA)

Quote:
Wood- Travis Wood surrendered six runs in five innings Monday in a no-decision against the Padres. In Wood's defense, there was a stiff wind out to center field today, contributing to the four homers he gave up.
Quote:
Zito - And we thought we had it rough with Soriano's deal...Zito's making $19MM this year. He also poses in really gay pictures.
Game 4: Monday June 4th - 3:45 PM EST CSN

Jeff Samardzija --------Ryan Vogelsong

(5-3, 3.09 ERA)VS (3-2, 2.36 ERA)

Quote:
Samardzija - Shark on Ken Harrelson - "There was a lot of them, man, a lot of good ones. I always liked the ones where he just didn't talk for about an inning and a half. And then all of a sudden, you know, he'd be like, 'The 2-2, two outs,' and I mean, where were the other 15 pitches that happened during the inning?"
Quote:
Vogelsong - Vogelsong credits most of his newfound success to Orix Buffaloes pitching coach Motoyuki Akahori. Motoyuki would sneak shots of sake out to the mound when he found himself in trouble.
